| Core Concept |
| A downloadable (declarative) goal-oriented collection of expertise.
Acts as a wizard for decision-support activities: e.g. what camera should I buy? What should I do on holiday? |
| knowledge |
| Contains domain expertise (rules) and quantitative data, such as explanations, links to internet resources and empirical information. |
|
| engine |
| The module requires an execution environment, could be a browser plug-in, an applet, or a web-service. Using the model is a user-directed data-driven search. |
|
| business model |
| Provides a means for knowledge providers - e.g. What HiFi, Which? - to sell their expertise for a small sum rather than rely on indirect income from advertisers. |
|
| personalisation |
| The intention is not to create a personal profile, (knowledge that is available or known to the individual), but to provide knowledge previously unknown to them. In theory, it could use an existing local profile to preconfigure the module, e.g. with demographic information. |
